Any initiative that obstructs collective creation, weakens the will of members to produce, drives them to retreat, undermines collective solidarity, twists the principle of equality, diminishes human dignity, or exploits the collective’s ethical and intellectual sensitivities to establish authority will be problematized, questioned, and sanctioned —regardless of the role or identity of the person responsible. Safeguarding and operating the collective’s anti-hierarchical and anti-authoritarian mechanisms is the responsibility of every member.
Duende takes a strict stand against all forms of discrimination, abuse, exploitation, harassment, and mobbing. No discriminatory act can be tolerated or excused, and no power relation that normalizes resignation to such acts may be allowed. Those who oppose discrimination must never face retaliation. Anyone who, with good intentions, raises a potential ethical violation cannot be sanctioned or reprimanded for doing so. All forms of sexist or heterosexist actions and discourses—grounded in sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression—as well as racist or fascist actions rooted in immigration or citizenship status, are subject to sanction. Perpetrators of such acts are publicly disclosed and excluded from the collective. Furthermore, discriminatory actions or discourse based on race, ethnicity, class, disability (physical or mental), age, civil or parental status, religion, pregnancy, medical conditions, or other personal or social characteristics are likewise problematized and sanctioned. For resolving internal conflicts, Duende relies first on internal processes that foster dialogue, supported by impartial moderators and carried out with the consent of the parties involved. Such processes must be initiated and completed within a reasonable timeframe.
